She handles complex commercial litigation involving anti-competition cases, intra-corporate disputes, corporate rehabilitation, recovery of property, claims for damages, and other high stakes litigation. Among the most complex cases she handled involve:

• representing one of the leading foreign manufacturers of motor vehicles in a suit involving its multi-million dollar dealership agreement with a domestic company
• representing one of the biggest foreign air carriers with worldwide operations in a multi-million peso damage claim
• representing one of the pioneers in land development in the Philippines in a dispute over titles to about one hundred hectares of prime real property in Metro Manila
• representing one of the biggest independent power producers in the Philippines in a complaint involving anti-competition.
• representing various clients in several corporate rehabilitation proceedings involving billions in claims including one of two water concessionaires in the entire Metro Manila, one of the biggest banks in the country, and one of the largest shipbuilding companies in the world.
• representing a stockholder of one of the biggest hospitals in Metro Manila in a dispute over ownership of shares of stock of certain parties which have been nullified by the Securities and Exchange Commission

Ms. Calo also handles international and domestic arbitrations whether ad hoc or supervised by an international or domestic arbitration organization, and construction arbitration under the Construction Industry Arbitration Commission (“CIAC”). Below are among several cases under arbitration or mediation that she was involved in:

• as lead counsel for the claimant in an ad hoc arbitration under UNCITRAL Rules
• as co-counsel for the respondent in an international arbitration under UNCITRAL Rules that has been adjudicated by an arbitration panel of three members whose chairman was appointed by the ICC
• as lead counsel for an international telecommunications company involved in a dispute with its co-shareholder under a Shareholders Agreement that was subject to dispute resolution under ICC Rules
• as Philippine legal counsel to the owner of a hydroelectric power plant relating to its claims under its insurance coverage during mediation proceedings in Singapore between the owner and the insurance company
• as lead counsel for a foreign bank in a case for an interim measure of protection prior to arbitration involving a claim on the bank guarantees under ICC Uniform Rules for Demand Guarantees 758
• as lead counsel in a case for the respondent before the CIAC involving a construction dispute
• as lead counsel in successfully obtaining an Order from the CIAC dismissing the case against the client

Ms. Calo also handles administrative and adjudicative actions before the Securities and Exchange Commission, the Civil Aeronautics Board, the National Water Regulatory Board, the Energy Regulatory Commission, and other government agencies.
