The Power 101 Seminar Series: Introduction to Financial Derivatives for Philippine Energy Companies became a forum where law, finance, and innovation met in dialogue. Chaired by Atty. Eric Puno, the Energy Lawyers Association of the Philippines (ELAP), together with Green Tiger Markets, convened the seminar on September 17, 2025, to provide energy stakeholders with new tools for resilience and growth.
The program featured distinguished speakers in law and finance. The keynote panelists included Atty. Oliver Pearson of Green Tiger Markets, Atty. Celina Encarnacion, and Atty. Rafael Morales. Their presentations explored how derivatives can play a critical role in strengthening the Philippine energy market.
Central to the discussions was the potential of derivatives to ease regulatory burdens, increase market transparency, and attract greater investment to the country. By offering mechanisms that promote reliability and risk management, derivatives are seen as a tool to both empower consumers and advance stability in the energy sector.
With the active participation of ELAP board members, Atty. Rassen Lopez, Atty. Pedro Maniego Jr., Atty. Ronald Valles, Atty. Elvin Hayes Nidea, and Atty. Mike Mathay, the seminar reinforced ELAP’s continuing mission to provide progressive programs that align law and finance with the demands of a modern energy landscape.
