PunoLaw celebrated its 30th Anniversary on September 17, 2014 in a very meaningful way with the signing of Rosella Puno-Mapa, its Managing Partner of a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with Habitat for Humanity’s Managing Director and CEO, Charlito Ayco and the Municipality of Batan, Aklan, Philippines through its Mayor, Hon. Delfina R. Ramos and Ms. Mediatrix Villanueva, Chairperson of Dios Mabalos Po Foundation. The MOA aims to build better houses and a better community for 50 families who were victims of Super typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan) in Barangay Songcolan, Batan, Aklan, Philippines. The signing of the MOA was personally witnessed by PunoLaw’s founding partner, Justice Ricardo C. Puno after the celebration of a thanksgiving mass.
PunoLaw donated Php6 Million to finance the building of the houses and support facilities with the Municipality of Aklan providing the land and the disaster victim-beneficiaries the necessary labor as their respective counterpart contributions. This endeavor aptly codenamed Project Pearl supports Habitat’s REBUILD Philippines Campaign in areas devastated by Super typhoon Yolanda that remain least served or underserved by the government.
